Indi Namkoong

(she/they)

Transportation Justice Coordinator

Indi Namkoong (she/they) grew up in a multiracial Korean-American household in Eugene, Oregon; Portland was her big-city neighbor for most of her life, and she finally made it her home in 2019. Indi began their career building trails and restoring wetlands all over the Pacific Northwest, but their journey to Portland led them back to the seeds they planted as a teenage grassroots organizer. Since then, they've focused on building coalitions and community power to advance environmental justice and a regenerative economy for our region. They've been lucky to work alongside some Verde people already while passing statewide legislation for clean and affordable energy and stewarding the Portland Clean Energy Fund as it grows. Indi hopes to keep finding new ways for people in many corners of many movements for justice to connect, find common ground, and work together. She currently lives in the Albina neighborhood with her two guinea pigs, Tofu and Tempeh, and rides her e-bike anywhere else she needs to go. When she's not working, she loves to cook, camp, and play in whatever the nearest body of water happens to be.
